Cripta747 is delighted to host In the spirit of being with, a group show curated by Lisa Andreani and Sonia D'Alto.
In the spirit of being with is a soft deviation from the present time, a decoy where the future acts backwards and the past can’t keep still in its grave. Linear narration melts into the material production process, something weird, almost carnival-like confirms the idea of progress as a mirage.
On the occasion of the first event of our 2020, we invite you to a listening session made of four performances.
Driven by the various attitudes of the artists involved, "KlammKlang Exports" try to stimulate our deepest feelings, exploring the territories included between dream and reality thanks to the use of different tools and different languages.
Amphibia and CRIPTA747 invite you to the presentation of the book "È amore. o è follia? Cocoricò 1991–1992" by Jacopo Lega - Amphibia. The publication wants to pay tribute to a two years long moment, captured through lights and memories of the same protagonists who have contributed to making the Cocoricò Club a free zone able to explore the most diverse forms of entertainment and the innermost manifestations of being.
The event will host a conversation between Ferruccio Belmonte and Roberto Spallacci, moderated by Riccardo Ramello - Club Futuro; together with an exhibition of the original flyers from Ferruccio Belmonte archive.
"Di notte la musica e le stelle sono l'energia vitale di una civiltà che venera un prezioso diamante, di una città costruita sotto una piramide di cristallo, luogo di meraviglia e di paradisiache sensazioni. Fuori dal tempo come in un sogno.”
We are happy to present - together with SØVN and Studio 23.56 - A voice is just a familiar noise.

Meet us over for the Open Studio of the third edition of Cripta747 Residency Programme with the works by Lee Fraser and Hilary Galbreaith.
Wednesday 30th of October from 5pm CRIPTA747, Via Quittengo 41/B, Torino.7pm ---> Performance. Hilary Galbreaith with Pietra Tonale.
Trained as a composer at Dartington College of Arts in UK with Frank Denyer, Lee Fraser went on to study electroacoustic music at MA level with Denis Smalley, at City University London and then at the University of Manchester where he got a Phd in electroacoustic composition. His recent work is characterised by its concern with synthesised sound objects and complex auditory experiences, drawing from his interest in digital synthesis, psychoacoustics and acousmatic theory. In his pieces Fraser explores the idea of liminality, working with physical models of recognisable sounds and stretching characteristic features of those sounds to the limit of recognisability.
Having grown up between Southern California and Virginia, Hilary Galbreaith's childhood and adolescence was marked by the DIY and “health” culture of California, the San Diego punk scene, traditional crafts from the American South, and the trompe-l'œil worlds of Disneyland and Hollywood. She draws inspiration from a wide variety of sources: Youtube tutorials and DIY sites, the “hobby” section of arts and crafts stores, post-punk music, bizarre store window displays, comics, medieval frescos, traditional crafts and costumes, B-movies and horror films, and satirical science fiction. Galbreaith creates playfully dark, comedic fictions that address the 21st century body, the way it lives with the ambivalences and contradictions of everyday technologies such as screens, social networks, and digitalized bureaucracy.

A community of calendars of buds and sparrows needs a post-box. The box or equivalent object will be installed in the smallest possible to buy piece of land in Europe and will function as an official address and home of the community. As a call to relate practical and possible meanings, the call to make a post-box is an invitation to create a sculpture.
I invite you--to make a sculpture
Which will be a measure of a language
Before it is used as an organic and medical
Equivalence of truth
I invite you--to build a house
In the smallest piece of land,
Impossible to buy in Europe
No bigger than a post box would need,
Perhaps up to 0,2 - 0,5 m²?
From the perspective of status quo
And critical legal theory
The sculpture in the smallest piece of land
Will be a home and address
Of a community of calendars of buds
You are now invited to make a sculpture.
Take a note as a line,
The one which would vertically support
Climbing of the weak-stemmed poem
In the making of a legal
Send your sketch of the post-box to email@example.com
A community of calendars of buds and sparrows is a working project, presented by Auridas Gajauskas during his participation at Cripta747 studio program. The project is devoted to transformations of the ethical lows and legal systems from the inside of the language, which produces the planetary (one we live in) vision. Life of the community, also simply called as “A community of calendars”, will be concentrated solely on reflections of changes, consequences and impacts of the non-human nature and its activities.
The second Meet & Crit event will take place on April 17th at the CampoBase spaces where two of the participants selected for CRIPTA747's Studio Program, will present their work. During the event, the artist Chris Rocchegiani and the curator Auridas Gajauskas will share their practice with the public.

CRIPTA747 is happy to present the Studio Programme 2019. It offers a place for research and production to artists, curators and researchers in any field of contemporary culture. Housed at Cripta747's headquarter, a 170 m² industrial building in the working-class neighborhood Barriera di Milano, it provides three work studios and affordable access to tools, workshops and on-site technical expertise.
Through a series of instructions concerning the challenge to run on the water from different perspectives and multidisciplinary fields, the book is the very basis for a broader discussion about the challenges of transforming anything that appears impossible to accomplish by human beings into something feasible, just by shifting the point of view. When, how and in what way is the image of walking on water in different religions used and expressed at the theological level? What animal species are able to perform this action and in which particular conditions are they forced to do it? What are the physical forces put in place and what are the prerequisites that would allow a person to run on water?
Living today seems to be defined by a constant state of alert and anxiety. Our phones interrupt us with minute-by-minute announcements of bad news, while totalitarian governments weaponize social media feeds to turn public discourse into a site of frenzy and panic. As a growing number of people fall to extremist, reactionary rhetoric, the idea of countering racism and xenophobia with facts or the "truth" seems increasingly useless. Just Say "No" will contextualize our present crisis of discourse by looking at a variety of writers who have sought to examine the ways that language and speech becomes co-opted and manipulated by oppressive regimes.
Cripta747 is delight to present the results of the on going researches developed by the artists Andrew Wagner (New York, 1992) and Gernot Wieland (Horn, 1968) during their time in residence over the past two months.Their investigations have brought them throughout some important institutions, museums, archives and libraries of Turin as, among others, the Lombroso’s Archive located in the same name university’s museum, where both the artists have been able to study some handwritten notes and sketches, a selection of photos and unofficial documents. Then the Library of the Gramsci Institute and the historical complex of the former psychiatric hospital right outside of town, in Collegno. They have also had the opportunity to confront each other and with local and international scholars, curators, artists and editors. Following these encounters their research path has taken on new directions and it has been enriched by reflections and intuitions.
“What are we looking at? And who is looking?” workshop by Gernot Wieland will consist of practical exercises - e.g. the making of several potato prints – and it will include personal stories, psychoanalysis, imagination and concentration. It will draw attention to where artistic research can lead, and will hopefully be a mess and fun. No previous artistic experience or knowledge necessary, maybe an interest or lust to fabulate, to tinker, to daydream.
We are thrilled to present, together with SuperSento, the avantgarde chinese producer Howie Lee. The show will be open by Aniello Maffettone's sound, whose 8/7/18 Inst Golden C (Macao) is just out with Gang of Ducks label.
We are excited to celebrate the opening of the new season and 10 years of Cripta747 hosting a live set by HMOT, a Siberian musician based in Russia. The Turin date is introduced by the local producer and composer MANA.
2018 edition of CRIPTA747 Studio Programme has come to the end: thanks to all the people who took part in this amazing season.

We are pleased to present INFLATED WITH A FLUID by Diogo Evangelista (Lisbon, 1984), conclusive episode of his residency at CRIPTA747.

The programme provide a drawing workshop, a hot drink specially made for the event, a screening of the artist's early video works - Isle (2013), Sungazing (2013), Spine Poem(2015), Mars (ASMR) (2013), Sweat (2013), Hands (2017) and 84 Percent (2016) - a projection of Flash for Frankenstein, a film by Paul Morrisey, a lecture by Danilo Tachino about the legend of Fetonte and the mythological connection between the city of Turin and the world of the ancient Egyptians. The workshop proposes an exercise of abstraction that plays with fictional and factual imagination. The shaman-like visionaries will draw the revelations during the ritual. Glasses with colored lenses will be provided to each participant to change their perception by allowing them to see a number of aliens inhabiting the room. The outcome will be used as another element of the whole installation. We offer the basics for the workshop like paper, pencils, and pads, all participants are free to bring their own material.
