Cripta747 is an independent cultural centre for contemporary art, founded in Turin in 2008 as a space for research, exchange, and production. Through its programmes, it supports the work of artists, curators, and researchers, operating as a cultural laboratory dedicated to contemporary artistic languages. Cripta747 fosters connections with national and international organisations, sharing tools, resources, and expertise to shape sustainable cultural processes.

Venues

Via Giolitti 32C

Since 2025, the venue at Via Giolitti 32C has hosted a dynamic programme with a strong emphasis on time-based practices and collaborations across the city’s cultural ecosystem. Located in a former club in central Turin, the 150-square-metre space sits just a few minutes from Torino Porta Nuova station and forms part of Piazzale Valdo Fusi, an area currently undergoing a broader urban regeneration process led by local stakeholders and public institutions. The project seeks to contribute to this renewal through culture, artistic production, and community participation. The space includes a small bar, open during events and conceived as a social hub for its community. Access is limited to members, in line with the organisation’s associative structure.

Via Catania 15F

Opened in 2021, the venue at Via Catania 15F is a former workshop with two large street-facing windows, located in the Borgo Rossini area of Aurora. Historically shaped by a strong industrial identity, the neighbourhood has undergone a significant transformation in recent years, leading to a gradual redefinition of its character, now marked by the presence of the Einaudi University Campus. The 25-square-metre space primarily functions as an exhibition venue and artist studio: the home base of the residency programme, hosting both individual working periods and public presentations. Admission is free and open to all.

Accessibility

Cripta747’s venues are partially accessible due to some structural limitations of the buildings. We are actively working to reduce existing architectural barriers, with the aim of making our spaces increasingly welcoming and accessible.
If you are planning a visit and have specific access needs, please get in touch. Our team will be happy to work with you to find the most suitable solutions to facilitate your participation.

The venue at Via Giolitti 32C is located at street level, directly facing the sidewalk. The entrance has a step of approximately 15 cm, and the door is 90 cm wide. Once this initial step is passed, visitors enter a flat area leading to the restrooms, which can be reached without additional level changes. One of the toilets is equipped for wheelchair users, with an 80 cm wide door and side grab rails.

Access to the main hall and bar requires going up two steps, each approximately 16 cm high. The stage is reached via three steps, each about 16 cm high.

The venue at Via Catania 15F is a small ground-floor studio. Access to the space requires stepping over a threshold of approximately 10 cm at the entrance; the door is 80 cm wide.

The interior consists of a single 25 sqm room, alongside a small alcove with a sink, separated by a 90 cm wide opening. Reaching this room requires stepping over a level change of about 15 cm. The bathroom is located outside the space, in a shared condominium area. It is not equipped for people with mobility impairments; access requires stepping over a level change of approximately 15 cm. The door is 90 cm wide, and the toilet is a squat toilet.

IDENTITY

Cripta747’s new visual identity stems from ongoing reflection on the relationship among space, architecture, and artistic practices — a dialogue that has shaped the project’s evolution since its inception. Conceived by Luca Zoccola, the identity takes the buildings themselves as its point of departure and unfolds across two overlapping layers: an upper layer for visual communication, inspired by the venues' facades, and a lower layer that conveys the experience of the interior spaces and their programming.
OT Marmo and OT Magister, designed by Omnitype, draw inspiration from the historic typefaces of Turin’s Nebiolo Type Foundry. Their use establishes a connection with the city’s typographic heritage, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens.
